Weston 537 AC DC Test Set.  All original, circa 1928, used for testing the early neutrodyne radio receivers. The instruction card is still in the lid, and there is also a sticker inside the lid from being serviced.  The case still has the original leather handle which is actually in good shape.  The box is solid, though the original finish is quite scratched as the photos show. I have several radio sets this would apply to, but none of them are in operating condition, so I did not test this unit.  I did, however, test every component in it.  All switches work correctly, making and breaking contact as tested by an ohmmeter.  All wirewound resistors have continuity across them.  I did find one soldered junction in the system wiring that was broken, and repaired this.  Both meters deflect with DC voltage applied, and their needles move freely. I have rebuilt many antique and vintage radios, and had intended to keep this in my collection, but I have collected more projects than I can get around to finishing, and this has to go. The four screws that hold the panel into the case are missing.  I know that the thread pitch is 40, but size 4 is too small, and size 6 is too large.  The brass bosses in the case are probably 5-40, and would take machine screws about 1.25 or 1.5 inches long.  I have a good hardware store, but it doesn't have 5-40 screws that long, so I'm leaving this as it is. The only significant damage I see is that the handle of the red probe is broken, so the probe tip is not held into the handle. This item will be securely packaged to keep it from being damaged in transit.  I will also cushion the panel inside the case so it doesn't rattle loosely inside. If you have any questions, please ask before buying.
