Zeiss Pumpkin Lamphouse without Socket, Otherwise Complete - Refinished This is a classic Zeiss large 'pumpkin' lamphouse. The lamp fits the larger diameter lamp mounting flanges as found on the Ultraphot microscopes as well as the upper port of the special illuminator base for the Universal and the Photomicroscopes. It will also fit the lamp adapter brackets for the Axiomat. The lamphouse is the type with the fixed collector lens. The rear cover does not include a mirror (the mirror was usually only supplied with the xenon 150w lamps). No socket is included. The lamphouse is complete with the swing-out diffusion disk, and the centering mechanism works properly. The lamphouse has been repainted with a very high-grade epoxy heat-resistant paint (this before I purchased it). The original color was the hammertone gray. I have run a 12v 100w tungsten lamp in the lamphouse without any discoloration of the paint, but it was not used for long periods. There are a couple of tiny chips in the paint in the housing where it attaches to the lamp flange of the microscope, but they are very insignificant (see first photo). When I got it, the clamp screw to hold the mirror holder had been broken off and a bit of paint chipped away where the screw broke. The broken screw was teased out and a new clamp screw installed. I believe that is the only place where one can see any evidence of the original finish. The original Zeiss light gray finish pumpkins were notorious for discoloration of the finish - sometimes becoming a strong yellow-orange or brown when mercury arc lamps were installed. This lamphouse will certainly represent a marked improvement! Glass collector and diffusion glass are in perfect condition. Shipping notes - Insurance is included in the shipping fees for all purchases. Due to constant problems in trying to stipulate actual shipping costs, and constantly rising costs of packing materials, we now use a 'fixed price' amount for shipping within the contenental US - this will include a modest handling fee. If you would like to pick up your item in person, that may be arranged if schedules permit (please ask ahead of time)! Please contact us for shipping costs to Alaska and Hawaii. Shipping damage - We must be notified in a timely manner if there is any damage to items as a result of shipping. We pack instruments very well, and have never had a damage claim (though rare) denied by any carrier. As a routine, we use USPS for lighter and less valuable items, but strongly recommend using FedEx for heavier and costly items, as their conveyor system seems to be better equipped to handle larger and heavier boxes. We do not use UPS. If size and weight permit, multiple auction lots may be combined to save on shipping costs. Payment terms - After winning one of our auctions we will send you an email requesting a confirmation of your shipping information. Once we have that you will receive an "invoice" email with the complete billing information, as well as remit-to addresses and other pertinent information. Occasionally, emails do go astray - if you do not hear from us, do not panic! We will do our best to contact you! We request that payment be received within 10 days of the auction closing. PLEASE NOTE! We do not accept credit cards! PayPal is the only acceptable means of payment unless arrangements have been made PRIOR to bidding! Foreign bidders - The shipping price quoted is for domestic Contenental US locations only. Overseas bidders should contact us before bidding to make sure we can ship to your particular country. Bear in mind that shipping costs can be quite prohibitive for heavier or larger items. IMPORTANT NOTICE - USPS no longer offers International Parcel Post as a shipping option. The only way to ship an item Internationally is via Priority or Express Mail - it is VERY expensive - often three to four times what it used to cost for Parcel Post! Up to four pounds, First Class Mail is available as a less expensive option, but you cannot insure First Class. The only method that offers tracking is Express Mail. All export duty, taxes and attendant overseas expenses must be borne by the buyer. All funds must be in US currency. No returns can be accepted from overseas shipments!
