specifications here: http://www.detectors.saint-gobain.com/uploadedFiles/SGdetectors/Documents/Product_Data_Sheets/BC400-404-408-412-416-Data-Sheet.pdf 2" X 2" X 1.5" thick NOTE the opposite sides are water clear. The edges will be saw cut and not smooth due to machining. It is up to the user to polish the sdes ( not needed for use) or not as you desire. Rugged, perfect for mobile (vehicular) detectors.Does not absorb moisture like NaI(Tl) so is very easy to work with. Correction, we now have BC-408 which is superior when used in larger, longer sections.Plastic scintillation material- it is  BC-408, the low loss TIR type. We know from lab testing that it is very sensitive to Beta Particles down to at least Tc-99, and Alpha particle (Th-230) plus gammas and X-Rays, especially above 100 keV. Also tested to lase if pumped.   Mount to a Photomultiplier tube for a complete nuclear probe. Custom made ZnS screen for your project, just add an extra  ($7.50 USD), for any size screen, (same size as your crystal).. Contact me at GEOelectronics@netscape.com   ------------------------ Wir verkaufen Plastikszintillator-Material, individuell zugeschnitten von Platten mit einer Dicke von 1 1/2 Zoll (ca. 3,8cm). Der Preis ist pro Quadratzoll. 1 Quadratzoll = $8.00. = un pollice quadrato costa 8,00$ A piece 2 X2" is 4 square inches and costs 4X $8= $32 and so on. Add up the square inches you want, multiply times $8 and purchase as many square inches as you need. Shipping is the same for up to 4 X 8" slab." La spedizione costa eguale  sino a lastre 4x8 pollici     All material is cut from a 1 1/2" thick sheet. The sheet is approximately 7 feet long and 18 inches wide. It is equivalent to BC 408 specifications, therefore it is sensitive to charged particles, Alpha, Beta, and also Gamma and X-Rays. Technically it is also sensitive to neutrons.   We cut it on a band saw, so that means the cut edges are rough. We have found this makes little difference. Polishing is possible by the user if desired, many examples have been discussed on the chat pages CHAT GROUP/ Q+A= http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/GeigerCounterEnthusiasts/   There is also a Tutorials Page where many basic radiation detection subjects can be found:   Tutorials= http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/HomeRadLab     Now on the large sheet, the edges are polished. That means sometimes a cut piece might have a polished edge or even two. All of the original face surfaces are polished of course. We try to accommodate everyone's needs, but it is difficult to cut this material, especially difficult to make a perfectly straight cut. For this reason we usually make the pieces ordered larger than specified. We have distributed thousands of square inches of this material with all users being very happy with their results.   It stacks easily for thicker detectors if needed. Generally there is no need to make a detector more than 3" tall. Because of simple physics, the larger the piece is, the more sensitive it is. This also implies the more background counts there will be from just normal background.   It is sold by the square inch. Just decide what pieces you want and figure out how many square inches the surface is in total.   ATTENTION Physics / Science Teachers and Instructors EXTREMELY LIMITED QUANTITIES OF THIS ITEM!!**   Same  material as used in $1000.00 Homeland security detectors, and industrial contamination detectors- Just like we use here at GEOelectronics. Mat Hazzard, the radioactive Pumpkin is NOT INCLUDED. ** NOTE: Neither Mat Hazzard, the radioactive pumpkin nor Red the Rug (if shown) are included. NEXT DAY FROM STOCK.
