The SPZ type 1/2 ” collet is used in the Suhner FH 12 straight toolholder.  It replaces the standard 1/4 ” collet and enables the use of abrasive and polishing accessories with a 1/2 ”" shank.  Examples include flap wheels, buffing wheels, sanding drums and other accessories up to 6" in diameter that are mounted on a 1/2 ” shank arbor.  The 1/2 ” collet is necessary in applications involving heavy or large diameter abrasives and buffs that should not be run on a 1/4 ” shank arbor with the standard 1/4 ” collet for safety reasons.  As a rule of thumb, any abrasive accessory or buff in excess of 3” in diameter should be mounted on a 1/2 ” shank arbor and require the 1/2 ” collet.  SPZ Type 1/2" Collet for FH 12 Toolholders Made in USA
