Affordable Binding Equipment "Quality and Integrity have no fear of time." "Affordable" doesn't mean cheaply made, just quality made simply. This is a tying up finishing press I build as I have time at my shop. (I am a self employed cabinetmaker, 34 years in the trade). It is made of laminated hardwoods with hard rock maple jaw faces, sloped shoulders and is sanded/hard-waxed to a professional finish, and is the same as the regular finishing press I build with the addition of the brass pin fixture. The tying up fixture comes off so you can use it as a regular finishing press. You won't find anything like this anywhere else. Screws are 7/16" steel threads. The one in the picture is representive of the one you will get. Dimensions are: Between the sloped shoulders 14-1/2" Between the screws 15-1/4" Opening size 5" Please note that the handles turn in opposite directions (one clockwise and the other counterclockwise) to open or close. In order to make this press affordable, it is the only change I made in the traditional design, and I think it is actually easier to use. The stand allows the book to stand free of the table. From the table to the top of the press is 9". The stand is removable for easier storage or to use the press alone. NOTE: I make these up as they sell, so please allow about 5 days before I ship. I use the existing finishing press I build and add the brass pin strips, which takes time. Please be patient. I guarantee you will be satisfied with the quality of this tying up finishing press. There aren't many styles of finishing presses available; none have a removable tying up fixture or removable stand, and all the prices are high. So for the price, this is an exceptional value.
