This is a very special grinder. It belonged to Roderick "Caribou" Chappel, arguably one of the best American Knifemakers from the Golden Age of American Knifemaking. I purchased this grinder/ sander from his apprentice Dan Lombardo last year and due to some unexpected circumstances had to move over the summer.

Brown & Sharpe Wheel Truing Attachment: This is a Continuous Radius and Tangent Wheel Truing Attachment designed to form, with one continuous movement of the diamond, accurate radii on grinding wheels with accurate tangents at either or both sides of the radii. Convex radii up to 1/2 inch, with tangents to 5/8 inch in length in any direction from parallel to the side of the wheel to 110 degrees away from the side, can be formed.

The job was running 24/7. It's original depth of diamond was 1/8 inch and shows only about .020 of an inch of wear.
