(2) PARALLEL BARS SET, RAILS, WORKHOLDING STEEL MACHINIST BLOCKS / MACHINIST TOOLS / WEIGHTS Used and in very good condition; some minor surface rust and scratches. Very versatile pair of Workholding Parallel Machinist Bar Assemblies, Steel Machinist Tools. Each bar assembly weighs about 10 lbs. This sale is for one pair (2) of these Parallel Bar Sets. The steel bars are 20-1/2" long, 1-1/4" diameter, and grooved and drilled and tapped, see last image (the groove is most of the length of each bar). Each parallel bar comes with steel block on each end, and a screw-clamp as shown: (1) One of steel block types is 2" x 2" x 2", has a blind hole 1-1/4" dia. and 1-3/4" deep (at the bottom of the blind hole is a recess of about 1/2" in dia. and 1/8" deep. This block type has two hex set screws which not only screw into the two threaded holes of the block but also to the two threaded set screw holes in the bar. (2) Other steel block type is 2" x 2" x 2-1/2", with a 1-1/4" dia. through hole. This block type is not keyed to the groove, and can be freely both linearly slid along the length of the bar and also rotated around the bar along the length of the bar. The screw clamps, used to securely clamp this block type to the bar, are provided for two reasons: (A) To secure these steel machinist blocks from sliding off and falling from the bar. (B) To position the steel sliding blocks where you want them along their bars; very useful for some applications, such as for clamping, work holding and guiding uses. These Parallel Bar sets have so many important uses. For examples: (1) As standoffs for storing heavy objects off of floors and table / bench tops. (2) Clamps for manually clamping objects that can fit between the blocks - workholding uses. (3) Guides for guiding heavy objects between the blocks. (4) Versatile steel blocks can be used separately for numerous machine block tool and mechanics tool type uses. (5) Bars/rails can be used separately for numerous heavy steel bar tool and rail type uses.
