ANTIQUE, "LITTLE GIANT", 14 PIECE TAP-AND-DIE SET, ORIGINAL CASE, WELLS BROTHERS COMPANY:  This very old tap-and-die set, in its original wooden case, was manufactured by the Wells Brothers Company, Greenfield, Massachusetts.  In 1876, the brothers Frederick E. and Frank O. Wells started their own business on the North bank of the Green River, in Greenfield, Massachusetts.  In 1912, the Wells Brothers Company was acquired by the Greenfield Tap & Die Company.  The Wells Brothers Company name was discontinued after 1916.  That being part of this tap-and-die company's history, this wooden case of tap-and-die related tools has to be at least 98 years old!!!!   My three photos will give you an excellent idea of this item's appearance and its overall physical condition.  There are FOURTEEN individual pieces in this set, and the set comes in its own original wooden case.  The set's five dies display the legend:  WELLS BROTHERS COMPANY   GREENFIELD, MASS.   PATENTED  FEB. 3 1883   "LITTLE GIANT"  .  The set's tap handle displays the legend:  WELLS BROS. CO.   GREENFIELD, MASS.   No 0  .  Though none of the pieces in this set, or even the information on the outside of the set's original wooden case display the identifier:  MADE IN U.S.A., one thing is for damn sure, no Jap or Chinaman had anything to do with making this antique tap-and-die set of tools!!!!  This tap-and-die set is in EXCELLENT condition!!!    SEMPER FI!!!!
