We are offering prints to DIY'ers who want to build a cnc plasma cutting table, and save money. This is a proven design of a table that was manufactured, and we are now offering the same prints that were used to manufacture this table. NOTE: Purchasing these plans entitles the customer to build one table for personal or commercial use. The plans are not to be shared or used for building multiple tables for other users, or for resale purposes. The plans cannot be distributed without our written consent. If you cannot comply with these constraints, please do not purchase these plans. This is an authorized release of the originals that were produced, and not an unauthorized copy of some other manufacturer's product. We have written authorization from Precision Plasma LLC to distribute these plans. This plasma table is designed to be run by 4-NEMA23 stepper motors with around 270in-oz of torque or better using 1/4 " shafts. A spur gear is directly driven on a gear rack for each axis (spring loaded to eliminate backlash). Eliminating gear reductions is the lowest cost way to drive a lightweight gantry. The gantry on this machine is designed with a lightweight, but rigid structure, with v-groove sealed bearing wheels riding on ground v-rails. This combination results in a perfect match for a low cost direct drive stepper system. The main requirement of a plasma gantry to perform well is it's ability to achieve a high rate of acceleration and deceleration, which is done by using this lightweight gantry. This allows the gantry to start and stop rapidly, which is required in order to cut square corners. This table can achieve this by combining it with an electronic package that performs well. Specifications: Resolution .001" when motors are controlled by a 1/10th step microstepping driver. A minimum of 1000 IPM rapid traverse speed, and a minimum acceleration of 50in/sec/sec. A video of a sample cut made at these settings can be viewed at youtube under v=AyhV4oLOHEg A floating Z axis is included in this design and is required for "Touch and Go" plasma cutting.
