Ok here goes - I believe it to be a depth mic. with a .0005 tolerance. when you hit the bottom the road will move the dial to indicate the final depth if that makes sense?
This was purchased from a machine shop that closed several years ago. If there is a calibration sticker on it its expired. It will need to be recalibrated.
