This auction features a rare 1.33" 8-Line 96-Point Hamilton No. 6 Gothic Condensed Letterpress Wood Type set. The set includes 121 pieces, including a complete uppercase letter set, a complete number set, and some punctuation/special characters. This antique set dates back to the late 1800s to early 1900s and is a sans serif lineal display typeface. The set was produced by the Hamilton Manufacturing Company in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. It is a beautiful set, with the A’s marked HAMILTON. TWO RIVERS. WIS. This set is one of many rare antique letterpress wood type sets from our collection, mostly from the 19th century, with some ultra-rare pieces from pre-Civil War times. The set overall exhibits wear appropriate with its age, with individual pieces varying in condition. Some or all of them may have chips, scratches, nicks, dents, gouges, edge wear, dirty areas, or marks. The set weighs roughly 1 lb 15 oz and is believed to be made from wood, though the exact type of wood is unknown.
