The model 177-63 is a self-contained unit designed to detect back ground radiation.If the detected radiation exceeds a preset level,audio and visual aalrms will turn on.During the alarm phase power will be provided to the rear panel power receptacles.The alarm may be turned off by pressing the counter reset button.Radiation level is counted for  1 minute,then displayed.. An indicated count of 180 is approximately equal to .1mr/Hr. This unit comes with  a pdf copy of the manual and schematic. (free shipping(USA). This particular unit reads 35-50 counts per minute on average here. I used one of these for detecting radioactive minerals and it works great. easily detects radiation from the old Fiestaware dishes(orange ones) that can be radioactive because of the coating used on the surface of them- comes with the power cord-free shipping(usa)
