Overview The PicoM07 is a high performance mobile standalone 10 DOF IMU ready to use with a USB 2.0 interface, wireless communication option (RF24L01 or ESP8266) and optional lithium polymer battery. The 9DOF sensor is an Invensense MPU-9150 and the barometer is a BMP-180. The charging circuit accepts lithium polymer batteries of different capacities. The PicoM30 is a self contained, ready to use, wireless IMU sensor module that is open, modular and extend-able. The PicoM30 uses a powerful STM32F303 ARM 32bit processor running at 72MHz with hardware FPU. An Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Madgwick filter calculate quaternions and output roll, pitch and yaw in real time. Either filter can be used as the primary. Source code is provided so you can tailor the device to specific applications. The PicoM30 has an interface connector that accepts a low cost OLED 128x64 pixel display. A second Color TFT 128x160 display also attaches to the PicoM30 using an adapter board. Software to drive the display is included. The PicoM30 is designed from the ground up as a wireless IMU sensor node with support for two different wireless modules. The RF24L01 is a popular 2mbit/sec 2.4G radio that is very low cost, provides good performance and provides true bidirectional communication. The ESP8266 is a serial WiFi module that allows the PicoM30 to connect to a local router. A Windows desktop GUI (SOCSense) is available that communicates with the PicoM30 via its USB connection or wirelessly via one of the wireless modules. SOCSense is designed to handle multiple PicoM30 in a star wireless configuration. A Nano communications adapter with RF24L01 interface is used to connect the desktop to the PicoM30. The PicoM30 can be powered from the USB interface or optional lithium polymer battery (on board charger). A voltage regulator drops the USB 5V supply to the 3.3V supply used by the processor and MEMs sensors. The lithium polymer battery charging subsystem allows the unit to be powered and automatically charged while connected to the USB interface providing seamless power management. The lithium polymer charging circuit supports battery capacities from 100mah to 1300mha. The STM32F303 is re-programmed by installing a jumper on the DFU boot0 header. The IMU filter application was written using the open source CooCox IDE and complete source code can be downloaded from our web site.
