The cylinder is 25.78mm high with diameter 25.40mm. It is pure cesium iodide crystal made by Bicron. It was used briefly and has been shelved in climate control laboratory. The volume of the crystal is 13.06 cc and since the weight (as shown) is 60 gm, therefore the density is 4.59 gm/cc. The published value is 4.51 gm/cc. The 1.8% difference is due to the resolution of the weight balance. The geometry is perfect for typical 1" photomultiplier. Please note that this is pure CsI with no doping of any other element. It is an excellent radiation detector with good energy resolution (better than plastic scintillator).
