If you have any questions or concerns before purchasing, please let the seller know as eBay ratings are essential to their The Smith Corona SL-500 Electronic Typewriter is a vintage model from 1989 that is still in working condition. This typewriter offers a range of features, from basic to advanced word processing capabilities. Despite being at the basic end of the scale, it offers various features such as bold type, underlining, correcting, and more. You can even use it as a standard typewriter by simply turning it on and typing away. The model SL-500 uses "H" ribbons and correction tape cassettes, and the manual was issued in 1989 for this and several other models. The only issue with this particular machine is that the cover has one latch broken off, but it still anchors solidly to the machine and is safe to carry as-is. The cover handle is mounted on the back of the main body. Additionally, the cover that lifts up to access ribbon and mechanism has broken hinges, so when you lift it up, it comes completely off. However, it holds properly in place during use and when carried, so it's only an issue when servicing the ribbon and components. All the typing keys work with a gentle touch like a modern computer keyboard. The printwheel in the typewriter is the standard Regency-10, which looks good when typed at 10 or 12 characters per inch. This typewriter also has other alternate printwheel options available such as italics, san serif, micro (15cpi), and more. These printwheels are easy to change out in a matter of seconds. The included ribbon is partly used but prints fine, and two new, unused OEM typing ribbons will be included with purchase. The correction tape in the machine has some unused portion left, but it appears to be dried out and does not lift the letters. However, another correction tape of the "cover-up" variety will be included. Please note that the single-character correction key does not work, but the word correction key works fine and types over the whole last word. If you keep hitting it, it goes back another word, typing over each letter. You can even do the whole line if you desire.
