A complete vintage Delta JET-LOCK fence. This sale is for one (1) fence of your choice from those pictured. These fences are "redesigned" to function correctly and lock the rear clamp. Background.........In 1960, Delta came up with a "better idea" fence and eliminated the finger knob for the rear clamp. This new fence was supposed to lock the front head casting square with the rail by pushing down on the ball knob and lever and, at the same time, lock the rear of the fence at the back rail. I am sure this new design worked for a while, if the screw driver slotted top sleeve was properly adjusted. The adjustment wasn't that critical because the lever arm inside the head casting was supported on a very resilient rubber bushing and could flex as required to allow the clamping components at both ends of the fence equalize. Problem!!!! After 10, then 15, and now 50 years,...... these once resilient rubber bushings are rock hard, egg-shaped, cracked...and worse yet..... discontinued. There is no more "flex" in the clamping system. The adjustment of the top slotted sleeve is now virtually impossible to get right, so most users now just get along with a fence that won't clamp in the rear. However, before the "better idea" fence came along, early Delta fences (from 1939 to 1959) had a finger knob to lock the rear clamp after the ball knob and lever were depressed to square the fence to the front rail. These fences still work as good today as the day they were introduced. No rubber bushing to harden and crack, etc. HERE'S THE DEAL !!!!! We have redesigned the internal components of the later Jet-lock fence to incorporate the finger nut clamping system for the rear rail clamp, so it will operate as reliably as the "early" fence. Although it appears that way, it wasn't as simple as replacing the screwdriver slotted sleeve with a knob. It actually required that we design and manufacture a new bushing, spacers, pivot shafts, a cam, and a longer pull rod. These retro-fitted fences incorporate some 27 new pieces and parts to make them work as efficiently as the early Micro-set Delta fences. (I have included a photo of the early style fence with the finger knob above the locking lever) The new parts that are incorporated into these retro-fitted fences are shown in one of the photos, where they are displayed on the blue background. We currently have four (4) retrofitted and fully rebuilt fences available. This Buy-it-Now offering is for one (1) of the Jet-Lock fences shown and labeled in the photos as A, B, C, or D. Each fence was fully disassembled, sandblasted, epoxy primed and finish painted in automotive two component urethane. The fence faces were then sanded flat and free of paint as were all other sliding surfaces. All sanded surfaces were then rubbed with SAE 10 weight oil to minimize corrosion. The new finger knob and the adjusting knob are billet aluminum fabrications. The front locking lever is now stainless steel and the "Saturn" knob is new. The OEM rear cam was replaced with our 4130 aircraft alloy replacement cam. Both pivot shafts in the head casting are new components. The internal bushing and required spacer are now Delrin CNC machined parts. The springs are new and the miscellaneous hardware used in the reassembly are all new stainless steel items. Each fence, whether it be A (SOLD), B, C (SOLD), or D is priced at $175.00, plus the fixed $25.00 freight fee for shipment to anywhere in the lower 48. However, Fence "B" has some saw scuffs on the left face of the bar. These scuffs will not affect the performance of the fence as stock slides by, but are not aesthetically pleasing, so this fence will be offered with FREE freight, in the lower 48. The freight for Fence "B" will be refunded after the purchase is completed through eBay. Shipping to other locations will be quoted based on zip code and US postal rates. For those who want to retro-fit their own Jet-lock fence, in the future, we will be offering the components in two kit forms. Both an "economy" and a "deluxe" kit will be offered in the near future. The economy kit will contain only the 11 critical components required to retro-fit a fence to function with the finger nut style locking. In this program, the lever, Saturn knob, Micro-adjust knob, all springs, and fasteners from the original fence will need to be reused. The deluxe kit will contain all 27 pieces as shown in the photo. These include a new Saturn knob and shaft, new springs, new billet Micro-set knob, stainless steel fasteners, etc. So you know, retro-fitting a fence is not an easy task. The difficulty is primarily in removing the lower shaft in the head casting. Delta press fit this shaft into a blind hole. Other than this problem area, the balance of the retrofit would be considered "tricky", but not difficult. The economy kit will sell for $75 and the deluxe kit will sell for $100.
