This Vintage 1954 Nuclear Chicago Model 1613A Vacuum Tube Ratemeter / Geiger Counter with Probe is tested and is in working condition. The GM tube in the probe is marked "Lionel 112 6703-1," and based on its responsiveness to the Thorium 232 Check Source, we estimate that it is either Beta / Gamma or Alpha / Beta / Gamma. This rare vintage instrument from the Nuclear Instrument and Chemical Company is in excellent condition, with some scuffs, scratches, and tape residue. However, as with any vintage vacuum tube equipment, you may need to replace capacitors and out-of-tolerance resistors for extended use. The Model 1613A is a radioactivity demonstrator that comes with two sources, 20 cardboard sheets, 10 lead sheets, 15 aluminum sheets, one cardboard tube, one lead tube, and one aluminum tube. The kit sold for $169.50 back then, equivalent to almost $1,500 today.
