This is a very rare transmitted light microscope from Leitz (later Leica Microsystems). It is rare in that a nearly complete Nomarski kit is the optical heart of the system. The s/n 127095 is near the end of the finite microscope run just prior to Leitz going to infinity correction for their transmitted light microscopes and introduction of the "DM" series.

This was the top of the line from Wetzlar......the famous Orthoplan with widefield (up to 28mm FOV index) was the ideal research upright microscope that could be used for both life science and industrial microscopy. This one is unique in that it has a very rare CAMERA LUCIDA DRAWING ATTACHMENT made for this model. The selling price of the drawing device alone was higher than our opening bid for the entire instrument.

This is a foundation microscope that you will enjoy for many years to come. The FP body tube includes the usual Leitz 38mm open vertical camera port for connection of your DSLR or MILC with suitable adapter. This is the later model Panphot s/n 693680 with in-base field diaphragm for Koehler in transmitted light.
