We had an expert look at these to try and help understand what they are, Here are his findings The coil measures 277 ohms, and the unit has the physical size of Ledex Size 7. It has a .375” shaft, and mounts with 1/4”-28 studs. It could be powered indefinitely with 120 volts DC, or used intermittently with 240 volts DC for much stronger operation, although you would have to watch for overheating. However, it is not a rotary solenoid. A rotary solenoid would only rotate a fixed angle between 25 degrees and 95 degrees, depending on the model. It would also return to starting position by a helical spring when power ceases. Your unit spins freely around the shaft axis. Applying power will cause a short but powerful movement along the axis, with no rotation. Return to original position would have to be part of the apparatus to which it was connected.
