A historically old brass and slate knife switch believed to be from the Edison era of the late 1800`s. Appears to have been used in a laboratory setting rather than an early electrical installation. The single pole knife has a tapered and spring loaded blade that pops straight up when the handle is touched lightly.

Here is a recent auction finds and I have no idea what application it was used on. I believe it is a motor speed controller for a vintage engine, maybe a solid set industrial type motor used in a manufacturing plant or refinery. It is in good used condition, no brakes in the brass.
