This listing is for the new 3 inch precut disk Precut 3” round ZnS(Ag) over Thin Film Mylar for Alpha Radiation Detection. This listing is for one pre-cut 3 inch / 75mm diameter (round) Eljen Technology EJ-440 ZnS(Ag) Scintillation Disk. These disks are used for building an Alpha Radiation Detector or when making a Spinthariscope for viewing Alpha partial scintillations with the eye. These disks can be added to the end of a plastic scintillator to make an Alpha/Beta/Gamma Detector, or directly to the end of a PMT to make an Alpha Detector. They can be used as is on three inch or larger scintillator blocks and/or PMTs, or cut down for smaller scintillator blocks and/or PMTs. They can be built into a housing all by themselves to view Alpha scintillation directly by the naked eye. Much information about making these devices is available on the internet simply by searching “Spinthariscope”. The precut ZnS(Ag) disk is ready to be installed over the end of a 3” or larger PMT or scintillation crystal, like those sold in some of my other listings. They are not necessary for Gamma Only Detectors, but are used often for Alpha Scintillation Detectors built with “End Windows”. Two or more layers of Rad-Film should also be used over the ZnS disk to block light from entering the detector.
