SWIFT Model 26 Stereomicroscope (stereo microscope) with Two Matched 10x Widefield Eyepieces with Eyecups and 2x Objective ________________________ It is supplied, as are all Greenough stereomicroscopes, with dual Porro Prisms. The Greenough microscope is named after its American inventor Horatio Saltonstall Greenough. The microscope, both by weight and size, is field portable instrument. Its weight makes it easy to carry on a field trip, as it weighs approximately 3 pounds 14.2 ounces. It is approximately 11-1/4 inches tall working position. It has a weighted 4-1/2 inch wide base, and a relatively large, about 3-3/4 inches in diameter, stage plate. The stage plate is white on one side and black on the other, and shows some use wear. The microscope is attached to an approximately 6-1/4 inch stand, with about a 5-1/2 inch pole. This configuration allows the microscope to be used with a variety of object heights and widths. The height of the focusing assembly is adjustable by a knob on the rear side of the stand. This stereomicroscope is supplied with dual matched W10X/20 eyepieces and a marked, 2x, objective. The spacing of the eyepieces is adjustable to accommodate for varying interpupillary distances. In addition, one eyepiece allows for independent adjustment of diopters. The picture of an image, seen through this microscope is of the eye of Ben Franklin on a US $100 bill. The bill is not included in this sale.
