FISHER Greenough Stereo Microscope Field Portable (stereomicroscope) with Two Matched 15x Wild Field Eyepieces (15XWF) It is supplied, as are all Greenough stereomicroscopes, with dual porro prisms. The Greenough microscope is named after its American inventor Horatio Saltonstall Greenough. The microscope, both by weight and size, is a field portable instrument. Its weight makes it easy to carry on a field trip, as it weighs approximately 2 pounds 2.4 ounces. Its size makes also makes it appropriate for a portable, with an approximately 8-3/4 inches tall working position. It has a weighted 4-1/4 inch base (at it widest point), and a white stage plate. The microscope is attached to an approximately 6 stand, with about a 5-1/4 inch pole. This configuration allows the microscope to be used with a variety of object heights. The picture of an image, seen through this microscope is of the eye of Ben Franklin on a US $100 bill. The bill is not included in this sale. One eyepiece lens allows for independent adjustment of diopters, to accommodate for differences in visual acuity between left and right eyes. The microscope can be also adjusted to accommodate varying interpupillary distances.
